Nicole Kidman is an American-born Australian actress, producer and singer. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards. She has featured three times in annual rankings of the world's highest-paid actresses, and was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2004 and 2018. In 2020, The New York Times ranked her fifth on its list of the greatest actors of the 21st century up to that point.

Nicole Kidman is an Australian and American film and television actress, singer, producer and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She won an Academy Award in 2003 for her role as Virginia Woolf in The Hours, she was the first actress from Australia to win the Best Actress nomination. Kidman is a holder of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Best-known movies and TV series starring Nicole Kidman include Billy Bathgate (1991), To Die For (1995), Batman Forever (1995), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Moulin Rouge (2001), The Others (2001), The Hours (2002), Cold Mountain (2003), Birth (2004), Rabbit Hole (2010), The Paperboy (2012), Hemingway and Gellhorn (2012), Grace of Monaco (2014), Lion (2016) and Big Little Lies (2017).

Kidman is a practicing Catholic. The actress attends Mary Mackillop Chapel church in North Sydney. During her divorce from Cruise, she said she did not want her children to be raised by Scientologists. Since her divorce, she prefers not to discuss the Church of Scientology. Kidman made a donation to the US Democratic Party candidates and supported John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election. Nicole Kidman has dual Australian and US citizenship.

The actress is often involved in various social causes, participating in breast cancer societies and helping homeless children. in 2004, she was named a UN citizen of the world and was nominated as a Goodwill Ambassador by UNICEF. On Australia Day 2006 the actress received the country's highest honour when she was presented with the Order of Australia Civil. She was also nominated as a Goodwill Ambassador by UNIFEM.

During the filming of Eyes Wide Shut there was a crisis in Kidman and Cruise's relationship. The couple divorced in February 2001, when there was very little left before their 10-year wedding anniversary. Thus, circumstances were unfavourable for Cruise regarding the terms of the prenuptial agreement. Cruise is rumoured to have left Kidman three months pregnant and the actress later miscarried. However, this information has never been publicly confirmed by the parties. In a 2006 issue of Ladies' Home Journal, the authors quoted the actress saying that Cruise meant a lot to Kidman, and means a lot now. To Kidman, he was just Tom, and to everyone else, he was a star. Additionally, the actress said that the news of the divorce came as a shock to her.
