AMÉLIE BERTHOU: ATTENDUE NULLE PART

My photographs question the transition from the visible world to the sensitive. They explore the field of emotional fields such as wonder, melancholy, doubt, joy, anguish, and loneliness.

In this research, I wish to express my intimate vision of the world: its strangeness and its fragility. The resulting images are imbued with dreams, poetry, sweetness, and mystery.

My photographic cycles are born and flourish in slowness: a movement (coach, train, walk) of the photographic gesture or dissemination. This slowness resembles me - in keeping with a rhythm of life or immediacy at first.

I operate my work with the utmost discretion. In silence and with unsophisticated, tinkered, and sometimes toy-like equipment, I don't catch anyone's attention and I'm never identified as a photographer. Among other things, it allows me a lot of freedom of action.

The images obtained freely intermingle different subjects: landscapes, portraits, scenes of life, interiors. Presented without comments, without titles, the photographs leave the spectator facing his imagination, his dreams, his desires.

My main photographic series are: 'The suspended time' carried out in Romania between 2008 and 2009. 'Parcours' is a work carried out in Jerusalem in 2011. Between 2012 and 2014, I realised 'Waited nowhere', a series of ten trips across Europe. Then in 2015, 'Degree 0' in Berlin. 'Mon tendre été', is a four-handed series with Dorian Sacher in 2018 and 2020. 'Carried by the wind', has been performed in Brittany between 2018 and 2020. Finally, 'A long sleep' is a series that is currently in progress.

In other news, Rick Owens Fall 2021 fashion show. On the subject of underthings, the pentagram briefs from the January men’s show reappeared here wrapped around evening clutches, the implication being that these alien females had handled the “unhinged male aggression” that those briefs signified.
